A few weeks ago I got a request to review the Beach Boys’ Surf’s Up, and given that I’ve reviewed pretty much all of the other Beach Boys’ post- Pet Sounds albums from the late 60s and early 70s except that one, it kind of made sense anyway.

I could go on about the amazingness of Alice Cooper all day, but that’s not really why we’re here today. Excellent show, Alice still has it, unlike just about every performer his age he is still bringing it just as much as he did 40 years ago. But this time we splurged a bit and got good seats, and being able to see everything going on spoiled me a little, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to be a cheapest-seats-in-the-house kind of guy again. We got better seats than I usual get at a concert too, I’m usually a cheapest-seats-in-the-house kind of guy, mostly because I’m not rich. Generally it’s Ozzy Osbourne who gets the really impressive guitar players, but this time Alice came up with a real winner, she’s something else. I’ve always liked the solid and dependable Ryan Roxie, and Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner were legendary, and that weight lifter muscle man guy was kind of fun to watch, but Nita is on a whole other level. Seeing his guitarist Nita Strauss is a bonus, she’s an exceptional guitarist, easily the best guitarist Alice has ever played with.

If any of you haven’t seen Alice Cooper live in concert, you better get tickets this time around, because you never know how much longer a 74 year-old-man is going to be touring. It was the 12th time I’ve seen him, and it was as phenomenal as any of the other times, maybe even the best of all of them. We had to drive through a snow storm to get to Cincinnati to see him, but it was worth risking our lives for. I’ve taken all of my kids to see him, it’s a family tradition. I saw him a week ago, my brother came up from Texas to see him with me, we took one of my sons along, and the show was fantastic. Too slight of an angle will lead to surfing towards the beach.OVERALL (OUT OF 10): 7 (9 if you go with my revised tracklist)Īlice Cooper turned 74 yesterday. Surfing on the wave too high up at an angle can lead to you surfing off the back of the wave. Make sure that you place your board in the top third or middle of the wave face. As you pop up, keep your head and body pointing in the direction that you wish to travel, apply slight pressure on the inside rail of your surfboard so that this rail digs in to the wave face. In your final stages of paddling, start to lean with your chest on the side of the board that you wish to travel, whilst doing this paddle with one or two sweeping strokes with the arm opposite of the direction you are wanting to go. *Too much angle can result in you missing the wave due to paddling away from the peak – here timing and positioning is very important. Once a potential wave is spotted and you have built up your paddle speed, slightly angle your board in the direction that the wave will break.
